Apprenticeship
Program
At NABET 700-M UNIFOR, we are committed to growth, development and creating diversity within our Membership and the film, television and digital media Industries. As part of that commitment, NABET 700-M UNIFOR has created an Apprenticeship Program, which we have built into our Collective Agreement.
The Apprenticeship Program is an on-the-job training initiative that provides paid placement opportunities on the sets of signatory NABET 700-M productions to anyone who wants to begin a career in the film, television and digital media industry.
NABET 700-M UNIFOR apprentices will receive hands-on training by working alongside our skilled members, gaining the necessary days of experience to later apply for Permittee Status.
You can apply for this program if you're a Canadian citizen, Permanent resident, or Foreign national with a valid work permit. Prior experience in the film, television, and digital media industries is not mandatory but recommended. We receive applications year-round.
Please read the following application process carefully, as we do not accept incomplete applications.

Submit your application to the office via mail, in person, or email: apprenticeship@nabet700.com
The applicant’s resume will be forwarded to the Producer and/or the Production Manager and the Department Head/Key who has expressed interest in taking on an apprentice.
At this time, COVID-19 protocols are scaled back, and proof of vaccination status is not required to work on most productions. This is subject to change depending on the resurgence of COVID-19. Each production is responsible for implementing its own policies and procedures, which may include a vaccination policy, if necessary, to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.
Please note that the union is not involved in crewing/hiring apprentices; therefore, we won’t be able to provide a timeline for when/if a production company will hire apprentices. The selection process and the number of days and hours an apprentice works on set will depend on what is agreed upon with Production and the Head of Department.
