NEXT COURSE DATE:

Instructor(s): Rahim Jamal and Meg Atkinson (Kastner Ko LLP)
Cost: FREE
Limit: Maximum 20 participants
Format: Available in-person and virtual
The EDI Representative is a specifically trained representative who assists individuals with equity, diversity, and inclusion concerns. Their role on set is to promote fairness for NABET technicians and support their right to a workplace free of discrimination, as required by the Human Rights Code.
The Collective Agreement now ensures that an EDI Representative is nominated for each NABET production as of January 1, 2023.
Those interested in being an on-set EDI Representative must complete this course before they can assume the role. Any person who identifies as Indigenous/Aboriginal, Black, or a Person of Colour; 2SLGBTQ+; gender and/or sexually diverse; non-binary; and/or disabled may fill the role. (For members who identify as women but do not belong to at least one additional equity-deserving group, NABET also offers training for an on-set Women’s Representative who handles concerns and intake regarding workplace violence, harassment, and similar issues. We encourage you to register for this course instead of the EDI Representative training).
EDI Representative training will cover the law surrounding workplace discrimination and provide an in-depth review of the roles and responsibilities of the on-site EDI Representative. This will equip you with the skills and abilities to complete intake for workplace complaints.
Members who've already completed this training are welcome to attend if they would like a refresher.
Call the office to register and secure your spot. Deadline for registration is Tuesday, August 20, at 12:00 pm.
