For over 50 years, NABET 700-M has been making film and TV in Toronto and Ontario with the highest professional standards, and with all the skills and certifications you would expect from a top tier technical union.

Established in 1970 we quickly realized the need for a full service technical union that was sleek, collaborative and flexible. We moved into traditional film and TV technical work and are currently a local of Unifor, and are no longer affiliated with NABET in the United States. We work on all types of shows, on location and in-studio alike.
NABET 700-M’s technicians have the expertise, professionalism and experience that comes with making the best quality of content. We have a proven track record of working with the highest level producers, actors, directors, production designers and major networks and streamers from around the world.

Our contract is negotiated with the Canadian Media Producers Association, with an emphasis on collaboration, crew work/life balance and ensuring the highest quality content.

Departments

NABET 700-M represents nearly 3000 highly skilled film, television and digital media Technicians across 14 technical departments in the Province of Ontario. Our departments include:

Ensures consistency in a film’s story, visuals, and performances across all shots and scenes, making sure everything matches from take to take.
Position: Script Supervisor
Provides on-set support across multiple departments, assisting with tasks such as moving equipment, handling materials, and supporting crews to keep production running efficiently.
Position: Labour/Cable
Prepares, paints, and finishes sets and scenic elements, creating textures, colors, and effects that achieve the desired look and realism for filming.

Builds, installs, and maintains physical sets and structures for productions, ensuring they are safe, functional, and ready for use during filming.

Designs, sets up, and operates lights on set to create the desired mood, atmosphere, and visibility for each scene while supporting the director’s visual vision.

Sources, creates, manages, and maintains all objects handled or used by actors on set, ensuring they are accurate, functional, and ready for filming.
Manages vehicles and logistics on set, ensuring cast, crew, and equipment are safely and efficiently moved to and from locations. They also handle on-set vehicle operations required for filming, supporting scenes that involve cars or other vehicles.
